About KAMS

KAMS is a program where you can enter current household ingredients found in your fridge or pantry and food recipes for any time of the day. The program pulls approachable and feasible dishes that you can make from a large database based on user input. It performs searches by sifting through the keywords from what you input as your current ingredients and returns a nice recipe that you can make with your current items! Our goal here at KAMS is to provide everyone with a chance to make delicious food without needing to spend too much money or time.

How KAMS Helps

KAMS food helper allows you to easily develop a nutritious and savory breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack meal! However, the other part of our goal is that we strive to limit the waste from leftover food that people produce and hope to decrease world hunger. Our team here at KAMS designed this food helper app so people can create great food through leftover or general household items such as milk, eggs, water, cheese, butter, sugar, salt, and vinegar or soy sauce. With KAMS, we hope to make world hunger a step closer to being eliminated and allow for everyone to make their desired dishes easily and with a lot of fun!

Meet The Team

khushi and aashi

Khushi & Aashi Parikh

Khushi (left) and Aashi (right) Parikh are in eighth and eleventh grade, respectively. They’re from San Mateo, California, and they became inspired and interested in coding because their dad is a software engineer. Together, they came up with KAMS (Khushi, Aashi, Michelle, Sophia) Food Helper because they understand how important it is to not waste food and want to help make a daily task such as cooking easier for others.
Michelle Sun

Michelle Sun

She is 15 years old and a sophomore at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy. She found her interest in computer science when she was in eighth grade and came across some online resources. At first, she wasn't super sure if she would like it, but once she started learning code, especially website development, she just fell in love with it. She helped make KAMS (and this website) because she believes that taking these small actions can actually help families with cooking and take a step closer to decrease world hunger.
Sophia Miles

Sophia Miles

She is 15 years old and currently a sophomore at a high school in Southern California. Coding interests her because she believes that it can be applied to virtually any profession, and has the ability to be implemented as a tangible product or provide solutions to problems in the real world. She wanted to help make the KAMS food helper since it not only reduces food waste, but also allows people to learn how to make the most out of the ingredients they already have at home.
